Girvan, on the coast is 13 miles from Barrhill and Turnberry for the golf enthusiast is just a few miles further north. The Galloway Forest 8 miles away is an area of outstanding beauty and offers much opportunity for walkers, cyclists, mountain bikers, fishermen and birdwatchers.
There are many unspoilt, beautiful beaches along the coast where seals can be spotted. The Rinns of Galloway peninsula, to the south, also offers quiet beaches and villages, spectacular gardens such as Logan Botanic Gardens and Castle Kennedy. Stranraer (the Gateway to Ireland) is about 45 mins drive away.
